| John Ermen vince in Olanda | La prima prova del campionato a Rucphen va al pilota della Serpent/Novarossi In the weekend of 7th and 8th of April it was time for the season opener for the Dutch Championship in Rucphen. It promised to be a very excitement race, because we had alot of new drivers in the top class. Top drivers like Jordy Blok and Ilia van Gastel are competing this year in the NK class. Also some new Young drivers like Rik Veenma and Daniel van der Drift performed really well during this weekend.
On Saturday I did some laps and tested some engines, because I had alot of practice the last couple of days on my home track I had a very good setup for my 960 ’07. I decided to give the car a check-up arround 15:00. Alot of drivers were realy fast and if they can keep up with the pace on sunday there will be alot of new records that will be broken! On Sunday the weather was even better than on Saturday. So if you had to set a time you can better do it in the first heat because later in the morning the track was to hot In the 2nd NK heat Jordy Blok managed so set a new track record with 23 laps in 5:09. Everybody including me was stunned about this result, because last year I had the pole position with 22 laps in 5:06. When my heat was up I knew what I had to do. Beat Jordy’s time. And I did. I managed to get 23 laps in 5:07! 2 sec’s faster than Jordy’s time. Rick also managed to run 23 laps but in 5:12. In the 2nd serie I was able to set my time a bit faster. 23 laps in 5:06! Rick also managed to take 2 sec’s of his time. Jordy had some problems during the 2nd and 3rd and could not improve his time. After qualifying this were the results: After some semi’s it was time for the finals. First it was the NOMAC final. In this final it was my nephew Miquel Hereijgers who had a bad start but after that he dominated the final and had 12 laps ahead on the no. 2.
After the NOMAC Final it was time for the NK Final. I decided to run 37 shore tires on the outside who were also 2mm bigger than the left tyres. My strategy was also to pit on 5 mins exactley, because I knew that Rick and Ilia had to pit earlier, wich gave me an advantage of minimal 5 secs. Everybody had a clean start and I could easely pull away from the rest of the field. Followed by Jordy and Rick. Jordy made a mistake in the first 5 mins because he felt a bit unwell wich caused him to fall back several times in the final. It was a Pitty because Jordy was also one of the fastest on the track that day. I was in the lead followed by Rick and Ilia. Because I could refuel on the 5 mins I had advantage wich let me to eventually lap Ilia and Rick. I led the race from start till finish and had no problems what so ever. Rick and Ilia had to fight for the 2nd place and after a long struggle it was Rick who had won and made it to 2nd position 6 secs before Ilia who made the podium complete. This was the final result after 30 minutes:

I’m very satisfied with this result! The new Novarossi and my new Serpent ’07 perfomed excellent during the whole weekend. Fuel consumption was no problem and the car setup was pretty good!!! Besides that I managed to break the track record with one lap! The last record recorded was 22 laps in 5:02. Lets hope for the same result next national, as the next national is at the same track only a month later. I wish to thanks my sponsors: Serpent Motorsport, Novarossi and Tornado for the support and the following people: My father, my brother Jack for the nervous pitwork and Vincent Dupont for the fast refueling during the final!! Thanks to all! With best regards, John Ermen
